On Saturday 12th August, the Therapy Partners Team participated in Connect 5 Training, a mental health promotion training programme which delivers the skills and competencies outlined in the Core Skills for Mental Health Education & Training Framework (2017) for tier 1 & tier 2 section of the workforce.

You can download the connect 5 training leaflet here.

The aim of the training was to develop the team’s skills in;

  • promoting a self-help philosophy of helping people to better understand, manage and improve their mental health.
  • enhancing the stepped care model of mental health intervention used within community, primary care and in-hospital settings.
  • building the capacity and capability of the wider workforce to support timely and effective access to specialist help.

The session was delivered by Wayne Goodwin, Connect 5 trainer, who we are pleased to announce has become an Associate Trainer with Therapy Partners. Read more about Wayne on our Meet the Team page.

Some staff feedback form the day;

‘By opening up a dialogue and helping others we can empower people to make positive changes in their life. This in turn increases our understanding of issues that surround mental health and ultimately helps to reduce the stigma that people face.’- Luisa Marafon

‘Often in life we become so wrapped up in our own worlds that we lose sight of the people that are a part of it on a daily basis. This course is a valuable resource that may enable us to become more aware of those we are around, in whatever capacity, and be able to “spot the signs of a struggle” and offer them the space and time to “talk” and “breathe”. Suitable for anyone who “cares” whether it be as an Employer, an Organisation, anyone who works with or for People.’ – Sallie Ann Kemp

The Connect 5 training is accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.
