As part of the Rewrite Your Story project, Therapy Partners staff have been visiting schools across North and East Kent throughout the spring term, offering seminars, workshops and assemblies, with a special focus on the early intervention of eating disorders.
Our goal? To raise awareness, educate, and support our children and young people and the professionals who work with them on a daily basis.
The assemblies were given to groups of between 30-360 students and staff.
The assemblies included powerful messages about body image, health and nutrition and the warning signs and effects of eating disorders. The PowerPoint presentation used for the assemblies is available to download here.
The students and teachers were also given the opportunity to watch hard hitting videos displaying the extent of photo shopped images in the media and the Rewrite Your Story video featuring Rubie and Sara’s experiences, stories and recovery, available to view on the homepage
Overall, our support and important message reached over 1100 students and 40 professionals, resulting in multiple referrals for therapy, the opportunity to provide help to those who may have otherwise gone unsupported, and the ability to offer invaluable training to professionals working with our children and young people.
We would like to thank Dartford Gravesham and Swanley NHS clinical commissioning group for providing us with the funding to make these school assemblies possible, all the schools who made time for us to visit and all of your positive feedback, your opinions are invaluable in helping us to develop our services and support. Also, thank you to our dedicated Therapy Partners staff.
We are proud to have been invited back by a number of schools and are looking forward to coming to deliver further assemblies to even more young people and professionals in the next term!
